Yeah, it seems at first like it's just music soundtrack when you run into these things, but then if you walk closer/farther you realize the volume of the music depends on the distance from the various objects.

The one level where you have to line up the 3 lasers to the 3 receptors? Each laser makes a bit of music, and all 3 together are making music as one.
