The disjunction for me is that the story content is a lot of fun, but plays like a single-player game. The questy combat stuff isn't compellingly better than World of Warcraft, which I used to play casually. That being said, I don't know if the raiding scene in TOR is good enough to hold people after the story content dries up.
Note that I am not a Star Wars geek, so I can't really judge the storyline/world of TOR on that basis. But for someone who has a casual knowledge of the world, that aspect holds up pretty well.
You do capoeira! I have only seen a demonstration once but it looked extremely cool. The only martial-art related thing I do now is, um, a very basic sai exercise because that's all I remember from a decade ago. *wry g*
