Your Gaming Gameplan for May?

Yo folx,

The summer season is almost here, but before that comes along May.

So do any of yall have any gaming plans or anything related to gaming for the upcoming month?

Myself? Finally! finishing The World Ends With You before the month begins. Three months for what I planned to me about a month and a half. And then starting on Professor Layton and the Unwound Future. Other than that, still learning video game music to play.

Let's see:

1. Playing Sine Mora. It's a fun sidescrolling shooter with some intense political stuff. Reminds me of Einhander in good ways.

2. Waiting for ME3 DLC ending to come before I finish the game. I saw my room mate beat it and was not impressed by what they had to give.

3. Need to get back to finishing our Primetime Adventures campaign now that my group is back from vacation.

4. I've got some 1 hour rpgs that need playtesting.

A side-shooter with a story? *looks for video* Ohhh! o.o That goes into the "play someday" pile.

A few years back I came across the archives for some create-an-rpg-in-one-day-for-one-dollar challenge or something like that; is the 1 hour rpgs the same thing?

Actually, the goal is to make an rpg that plays out in about an hour. I've been inspired by two things; Ben Lehman's Hot Guys Making Out (http://www.tao-games.com/?p=36) which gets played every time at my friends' rpg party nights, if only because it plays in an hour, and, a month ago I ran a simplified Burning Wheel game that told the downfall of a kingdom during the Japanese Warring States in a single hour.

I'm currently replaying the first Phoenix Wright game for the third or fourth time, and will probably go through the other four games in order of release. Apart from that, I have a mostly unplayed copy of Lego Harry Potter, and Animal Crossing: Wild World + Hotel Dusk heading my way via Ebay.

Right there with you on Phoenix Wright series (especially after playing Ghost Trick) & Hotel Dusk. One day I'll get around to those.

Get to level 50 in Star Wars: The Old Republic. Entertaining voice acting, anyway, but I expect I'll quit after that.

I've been continuing to go to the local game store on Fridays--the month rotates through Fire & Fury (American Civil War wargame), Silent Death (hex-based space combat boardgame), Knight's Cross (WWI/WWII dogfighting hex-based boardgame), and open night for random boardgames (last things I played were A Game of Thrones and Power Grid, I've also seen Twilight Imperium and Civilization).

I miss RPGs, but I don't have an RPG group locally so that's out.

Wow, seems like the Old Republic really isn't holding a lot of people's attention.

But that's a good idea you've given me, checking for local gaming shops and what sort of weekly activities I had. Best I know of from some guys I train capoeira with is a Magic The Gathering night.

The disjunction for me is that the story content is a lot of fun, but plays like a single-player game. The questy combat stuff isn't compellingly better than World of Warcraft, which I used to play casually. That being said, I don't know if the raiding scene in TOR is good enough to hold people after the story content dries up.

Note that I am not a Star Wars geek, so I can't really judge the storyline/world of TOR on that basis. But for someone who has a casual knowledge of the world, that aspect holds up pretty well.

You do capoeira! I have only seen a demonstration once but it looked extremely cool. The only martial-art related thing I do now is, um, a very basic sai exercise because that's all I remember from a decade ago. *wry g*

Can you do Skype or Google Hangouts? Some folks are doing tabletop rpgs that way. And if so, maybe we can playtest some of these 1 hour games of mine.
